Alberto Pibiri is an Italian jazz musician based in New York. He developed his musical experience between Italy and France, studying both classical and jazz music. During his studies, he became deeply attracted to the music of Oscar Peterson, whose recordings became a major reference and inspiration for Alberto.
In his early years, Alberto performed at many concerts and festivals with his trio, presenting the music of Oscar Peterson alongside his own creative interpretations. Some notable venues and festivals include Sunset Sunside and Duc des Lombards in France, as well as Cala Gonone Jazz Festival, Time in Jazz, and Orsara Jazz Festival in Italy.
While in France, Alberto began collaborating with legendary vocalist Sheila Jordan during her workshops. She soon became both a mentor and a dear friend. Recognizing his talent, Sheila Jordan offered to sponsor Alberto’s artist visa, allowing him to come to the United States to perform—something that had been his dream since childhood.
After moving to New York, Alberto began working with many respected jazz musicians on the scene, including Dave Stryker, Enrico Granafei, Marco Panascia, Harry Allen, Essiet Essiet, and Les DeMerle, among others. With Dave Stryker, Alberto recorded his first album, NYC, produced by Strykezone Records. The album was presented at several notable jazz clubs, including Trumpets Jazz Club, Smalls Jazz Club, and Fat Cat Jazz Club. The project also attracted the attention of renowned pianist Monty Alexander, who later invited Alberto to perform at the Monty Alexander Jazz Festival in September 2015.
Following the release of NYC, Alberto recorded as a sideman with several international artists, including Yearning with Magda Bozyk in Poland, Tosti Today with Nicoletta Castacrane, In the Name of Love with Valentina Marino on Jazzheads Records, and recordings with Professor Cunningham and His Old School on Arbor Records. In October 2016, Alberto won the award for Best Rhythm Section with Professor Cunningham and His Old School at the WorldJam Festival in Madrid.
With Adrian Cunningham, Alberto had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall and tour Australia, including a performance at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in June 2017, with concerts in both Sydney and Melbourne.
In December 2016, Alberto recorded his second album, Jazz Legacy, consisting of ten original compositions and featuring special guests such as Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton, Miriam Waks, Dave Stryker, and Adrian Cunningham. The album attracted the attention of Shelly Leibowitz, CEO of SRI Records, who offered Alberto a recording contract. The album is now distributed worldwide by SRI Records.
During the pandemic, Alberto dedicated himself to furthering his academic studies. He pursued graduate studies at William Paterson University, where he had the opportunity to study with the legendary pianist Harold Mabern. He later completed his graduate studies at Queens College, studying with acclaimed musicians Luis Perdomo and Michael Mossman.
Alberto is currently pursuing an additional Master’s degree in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games at ThinkSpace Education, expanding his work into composition for visual media.
In the past two years, Alberto has also been working as a Guest Entertainer for Royal Caribbean International, performing in the luxurious Supper Club aboard the cruise ships Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas.
